Andrew Bradley - LEADER.
Well what can I say, It is said that every GREAT GROUP has a GREAT LEADER and he is certainly Ours. Inspirational Young AND Good Looking are but a few of his traits, Kind and considerate being others. At 24 we hope he will be taking us a lot further around the country before he has time to hang up his boots. An Educationalist who can often be seen around different Counties spreading the Gospel according to Yorkshire Folk, just ask Martin, Brian and Maria. We don't know where he gets his ideas from but boy is he good at executing them. He can now add playing the Organ/Piano to his bow as can be witnessed after our weekend Hikes away, (What a Great singer he is Too). Has applied to be on Stars in There Eyes (Kids) but has been told he has to wait until he grows up a bit. After the 3 Peaks walk he was voted "REAR Of The Year 2004" by The Ladies section of the Hubberton Hikers, Woman's Own and Oh Boy. *****
Jonathan Lord - TROUBLE!
The man who likes to run off at a killer pace until he comes across a motorway. Johnny has a long and chequered history on walking which started when he was at Junior school and progressed with him through-out his educational life. Johnny and our Leader have been to many a YHA over their short number of years and seen many a spectacular view, particularly on the Pennine way. He has always been a keen walker and dog owner(Sally).

"A walk without a dog is a wasted walk..."
Janice Lord
Quite the opposite to her husband. Calm collective and very good to walk with?? A number of years younger than her husband, Janis is a favourite with the hikers for her calming influence over the pacemaker in front. A modest woman who enjoys meeting people (as we ALL do) and enjoys a drink or two on the side.
Brian Ennis
The soon to be retired Technical Director. Always the one who wants to stop at a pub mid-walk for 3 or 4 PINTS, DANGEROUS!! Our leader is expecting great things of Brian in 2005. It is hoped that Brian will be able to create some hikes (with our Leader's GUIDANCE) to enable Our Leader to concentrate more on the social side of matters.
Lesley Ennis
Married to Brian and spends the majority of her time looking after the home or in-putting data into her "NEW" electronic note-book. One of the current Vicar's helpers of the Sowerby Parish. Dedicates a lot of her time to the church and can be seen annually weeding the church-yard.
Brian Vicars
One of the Coventry converts. Brian used to work in the Massey Ferguson Tractor factory until he was made redundant at an early age, (thankfully). Met our Leader whilst they were walking the Pennine way.
Martin Towe
The other Coventry convert who has been GREATLY educated on the ways of YORKSHIRE/folk. Has had the privilege to be allowed to organise one or two of our YHA weekend hikes. Martin works part-time at the Jaguar car plant in Coventry.
John Whipp (Webmaster)
An experienced software-writer, John is on a large learning curve. He thought that all the Sowerby area was about was the quiz on a Thursday and the pubs that are local to him. John has been one of our part time walkers due to his continual effort to further improve his knowledge on the I.T. side of things. It is mainly due to John that this web site has been able to be created.
Debra Wade (Webmistress!!)
Debra is the long term partner of John, wedding bells in the air, and also writes software for a living. Spends most of her spare time either studying or going to Yoga with her sister, not been seen at the quiz for a while.
Diane Wade
Well known in the Girls Brigade association and often can be found at keep fit or the Thursday evening quiz. Diane works for a well known banking organisation and is the favourite to collect most sponsorship from, the 3 peaks challenge.
Heather Hirst
The slim one of the troop and needs constant "Mothering" to ensure she has taken the right amount of vitamins and eaten the correct food before the commencement of any hike. Whilst Heather is VERY slim, it is expected that she will start to put on weight with her NEW job as a wine taster. GREAT things are expected of Heather to promote the wine company she now works for by holding a "Hubberton Hikers Wine tasting evening" somewhere local!
Leslie Wakeford
Can often be found making the Ginger scones for our LEADER!. Is a keen learner which could be to do with her husband being a tutor at a local college. Has 3 children 1 of which has a reputation for "CHEATING" at the Thursday quiz. Leslie is another helper at Sowerby Church and is the chief organiser of the food for the 3 peaks challenge.
David Wakeford
As previously mentioned a tutor at a local college. David is a very keen keep fit enthusiast which could be something to do with the ageing process. Can often be seen either orienteering or marshalling an event and is a keen canoeist. He is looking into organising the Hubberton Hikers first canoeing course in the summer. Watch this space!
May Hindle
A very keen fit "Young Lady". One of our stout cooks for the 3 peaks weekend and will no doubt take NO back chat from Brian little whilst they are working in the kitchen. May is a very keen outdoor enthusiast and lacks no motivation. A "fantastic weekend" was how she described Castleton in Derbyshire last year, she let no hill get in her way and she is now awaiting the Lake District weekend with bated breath!
Anne Walker
One of the troublesome "night Owls". A Radiant member of the group who is known to all as "Hipster" due to her Dress(arge) gait! Amazingly after a change of oil (Red wine for White) has a tendency to loose all her aches and pains at the drop of a glass, although she keeps hold of Junettes stick! A popular after (and during) dinner speaker who gets the giggles all too easily!
Kath Finn
The other "night Owl". Fast becoming a popular member to the troop and a stop out like her sister (above). A good walker and doesn't hang about for ANYBODY! Could be classed as the Female Johnny Lord but doesn't seem to know what a MOTORWAY is!
Julie Murgatroyd
They say that things come in threes and this is the third. A lively little number who has recently joined the "Agency" of "GRUESOME TWOSOME" in the hope of leading a "Normal" existence away from the clutches of OLD men and Flashy Cars. Could be a regular if she put the time effort and energy into the Quiz team on a Thursday night as she puts into the Mr and Mrs show.
Maria Wicker
The Southern most of our Hikers who just Loves to get out in the fresh Air. Seems to have to put up with Johnny MORE than any other member including our LEADER. A keen cyclist and fast becoming a "shopaholic". At present is taking a Masters Degree in "STRESS MANAGEMENT" and Marketing. Would dearly Love to spend more time in Yorkshire if time and commitments would allow.
Niki Ison
The Nurse we (LADS) would all like to tend to our wounds!! Has only been on the Norland hike so far but no doubt will be seen on many a future hike. Her hobbies include reading the pub speak, listening to Val Doonican, taming "Lions" and of course Cycling!! Has been seriously ill lately as she has been unable to shop, but she nearly DID drop. Good to see her back at the quiz.
Eric Whiteley
The elder statesman of the group hence another one who has only been on the Norland walk. A Man for the Women and the quiet man of the quiz. Must do better!
Ian Harkness
The book Worm of the group. Has a fancy for "Fine Things"!! Provides us with ALL our Maps and routes for the walks. A very Mild Mannered Man who has plenty of time for anyone and is a great listener. they say you have to watch out for the silent types....well Ladies BEWARE!!
Junette Powell
Well what can one say...Always the optimist. Her hobbies cover a wide range of the spectrum, from Men to muscles and WINE to Walking. Was over the moon about completing the 3 peaks within the allocated time span and so she SHOULD be. Always has the effort but lacks confidence where she really doesn't need to. Our NEWLY appointed Masseuse, Junette is now in the latter stages of completing her "Degree" in Hikeology and Quizology,(although she NEVER wins).
David Pickard
A bewildered member of the group who continually "Try's" to ignore his wife (and ALWAYS suffers the consequences). A trained Dog handler who has spent many a night counting CHICKENS!! A mild mannered guy who always "pretends" not to hear his wife.... but can hear the beer flowing from 4 miles, (walks with Brian Ennis).
Susan Pickard
Wife to the above. The woman in Charge and boy does David know it. Favourite pastimes are taking Gemma for a walk and picking Olives when we have a hike planned. A keen sports-woman and participator of local projects. Can also be seen as a regular at Church on a Sunday and a willing participant on the Hubberton Hikers Calendar although she was disappointed not to take her cloths off. Provided an excellent buffet on the boxing day walk.
Angela Payne
A well mannered Woman who you feel is a very good listener. Could be a very good leader if she could give the time and ENERGY that the position takes!!! A keen drawer of curtains and blinds, she has a good eye for Material things and puts a lot of time and energy into pulling strings!
Mike Payne
Likes to think he is the Joker in the pack. Try's to keep up with "US" youngsters but tends to "Flag"as it gets to the latter stages of a walk. Likes a good meal and a drink or two before he comes out with some jokes. "NOT" a shy character but would like us to believe differently. What he lacks in "Youth" and "Energy", he makes up in Charisma and Charm.
Jean Little
A useful additive to the team although at times she likens herself to a Premiership footballer by diving across the field. This happened in one of her first hikes with us. Wife of Brian, (not to be confused with having a film named after her) she is another keen sports woman who can be found around the bowling greens of the area as well as having a few "Tips" up her sleeve.
Brian Little
Make no mistake he certainly knows HIS place! A keen sportsman who likes to know everybody's business. The man in the know as we like to say until that is it comes to the racing. A bit of a let down at the quiz too as he never takes a paper but ALWAYS knows the answer (when its read out). Rumour has it that he's not a bad odd job man, but everybody has to be good at something!
Gareth Hart
Son in Law of the above so needless to say has very "Little" work to do on his house renovations. A newly wed who joined the hikers in their second year and has relished each walk he has been on. Another keen sportsman in a number of fields who is now coming out of his shell a "Little" more each hike he goes on. Not a keen climber but loves the down hill slopes.
Cathy Hart
Wife of Gareth and surprisingly enough another newly wed. A lover of "Brass" and being on the "Phone" gives me the impression she could be a good Saxophonist! A New member to "The Bradley Experience" an 8 piece band who ALWAYS Entertain us on our travels. Takes after our Leader in being a BIT SHY but is otherwise of sound background.
Jean Gaunt
A FINE Weather Hiker Joined the Hikers on the Mytholmroyd walk in January. Threatened to join us on our December walk last year but a bit of rain put her off. A Keen "Quizzy" who likes nothing more than to win the quiz on a Thursday and then promptly lets Malcolm do the quiz the week after. Likes to be "Wined and Dined"!!! and Loves to be "THE" Lady of the Golf Club. Loves to Wedge in between Christine and Pauline on the Sofa on a Thursday night.
Malcolm Gaunt
Husband to the above and a "Likely Lord of The Manner" if ever their was one! Likes to think he can keep up with "US" young uns and likes to think he knows a bit about Whisky. A retired Musician who was reputedly the man BEHIND Liberachie!! Likes a Bit "O" Brass and is certainly FULL of wind. A keen restaraunt-err it has been said he is close friends with Rick Stein.
Nick Evans
The Hilda Ogden of the troop with his head scarf. A Meat Loaf look alike with head for figures. Likes nothing more on a Sunday than to get on his bike and go for a "Burn". A quiet chap who has the thoughts of Einstein without the theorem.
