HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL HUBBERTON HIKERS
Well at last the start of MY 40th year is about to descend on me/us. I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to it. While most of you were filling up on Turkey mince pies and lots of alcohol (Brian), Leslie and myself have been out sorting the Hubberton Hikers Christmas dinner for Saturday February 2nd, thanks Leslie. New walks for your hikers Calendar 2008 can now be seen on the web site so you may now plan out your entire year. Thanks Debra and John for putting those on so quickly.
If anyone has any further ideas on where they would like to walk, particularly the weekend away walks, then please let me know so I may put the idea to the committee for sanctioning for 2009.
As you will see I have planned the weekend walks for May, September and The INTERNATIONAL Hike to the Dolomites already so if you wish to put your names down, I suggest you do it straight away, as there is only limited availability.
The International Hike for 2009 is also been looked at as you read. The thought at the moment is for a week in South West Eire around the Kerry area. Any input would be gratefully appreciated.
If you all would prefer to add an EXTRA weekend away during the year at either North Wales (Snowdon), or Stainforth, please let me know of your interest ASAP then I can sort something out.
At this juncture I would like to ask the support crew who worked tirelessly on serving food and repairing blisters etc on the Lyke Wake Walk, if they will do the same on the Calderdale Way or if they themselves would like to attempt it, let me know.. A BIG THANK YOU to Leslie and David Wakeford (akka the Ginger Scone QUEEN) for organising the rounders and the Bonfire night "bashes".
THE CALDERDALE WAY
If any hikers would like to attempt the Calderdale Way over a weekend, please fill in your form and hand to me and I will see that you are booked in at the YHA (staying overnight at Mankinholes Youth Hostel). Anybody interested please let me know before the Easter Holiday.
